Night Time – Events & Parties

Art Basel 2006 Miami
There were so many events this year during Art Basel it was quite a trip trying to keep up! Let’s start with Swaroski’s famous event held at the Paris Theater in South Beach – what a space, crowd and of course let’s not forget the crystal! Swaroski’s had a great display from unique lighting to fashion where you were sure to stop and think in front of each display. Puma of course had their series of event a bit everywhere for those who enjoy the underground lifestyle and of course the brand! One which was not to be missed was Yoko Ono’s event at the Sagamore – she even had lights for everyone to turn on displaying the word love – but of course she did! The Surface Magazine and Lexus event took place at Jonathan Morr’s Townhouse Hotel – on the rooftop of course, great crowd, great music and let’s not forget Bond St. famous sushi which was also being served, you could not ask for anything more! It isn’t a party without Vanity Fair’s presence somewhere! Add a little Banana Republic fashion to it and you have a party at Sky Bar at the Shore Club…do I need to further explain? I think it speaks for itself. Mokai at the W hosted a few great nights during Art Basel. Gen Art was host to two main events – Culture on the Verge, the opening night party for the Scope Art Fair and Dolce:10 Cane, which picked guests up in a limo to get there Art Basel style! Lladro event had their own event at Space not to mention Design Miami and the annual block party in the Design district. Luminaire’s Puppy Love exhibition definitely caught everyone’s attention and what a great cause!

GMCVB’s Boutique hotels recently participated at Boards summit in New York – key decision makers in the commercial, production and advertising industry attended this annual summit. Miami had the opportunity to showcase their award winning Miami In The Spotlight locations black book – the first industry guide providing all the necessary information, details, and visual showcasing Miami as a destination for the production, advertising and film industry.

GMCVB’s Boutique Hotel partnered up with HUGO BOSS International at their recent fashion show in Mexico City this November – this was definitely a must see – the Fashion show took place at the Mineria Palace, one of the oldest Palaces in Mexico City – Over 2,000 attended this event including Mexico City’s socialites, Hugo Boss International, celebrities including Valentino Lanus, Sebastian Ruli who were among our celebrity winners to stay at one of the high-end Miami Boutique Hotels!

SXSW Music Conference in Austin was well attended this year ….a selection of events to go to all night long! Who needed a hotel room with this kind of schedule!!! A few favorite events: DKNY at the old airport, the MTV event, Spin Magazine, Island Records, Filter Mag. and Fader, Diesel, and BMI, 33HZ Album release party, Austin Music Awards . Personal favorite must have been Billy Idol concert event and Eryka Badu .

M3's WMC Miami was a big success this year in Miami! And if you think you did not sleep in Austin's SXSW, then definitely forget sleep in Miami! Favorite events: The Raleigh Hotel featuring renown DJ Ben Watt – need I say more!!! Giant Step's Peter Kruder at The Hotel – great music not to mention the creative displays they had going on the rooftop. Spin Magazine celebrated the WMC at a mansion house on Pine Tree drive featuring Sasha and Digweed behind the turntables. Diesel was resident to the famous Raleigh Penthouse two days in a row. Casa Casuarina, Cielo and Armani went all out with their selection of DJ's – among DJ's Miguel Migs ! In it's 7th year now, Paolo Albertoni and Franco Moiraghi played incredible sets at the Pelican celebrating Positive – A whole lotta love! M3's Chill out Sessions featuring the sounds of Cirque du Soleil with similar performances, was the perfect closing for this year's conference.

GMCVB's Boutique Hotels partnered up with Luminaire Contract, Ipod, and Ocean Drive at the Moore Building in Miami's design district, to celebrate and welcome DJ Ravin of Buddha Bar Paris and the launch of Buddha Bar 7. The Boutique Hotel book along with the Miami in the Spotlight and Heritage book was a great success and were autographed by DJ Ravin!

Miami Boutique Hotels will attend Sundance Film Festival 2005 as a principal partner in association with Gen Art's Film division. Over 2,000 industry leaders will be attending Gen Art's Film annual Sundance event. Directors, producers and celebrities will be walking down the red carpet at this infamous event. Our recent Film, Fashion & Entertainment creation, "the Locations Black Book" will be launched during Sundance. This party is known as one of the well attended off the beaten path parties in Sundance...having participated in various Gen Art events, I am sure the "creative and unique" will be the vibe!

On November 30th, the GMCVB's Boutique Hotels, along with Mini Cooper, Clarins, Casa Colima and Bacardi will sponsor Playboy's 50th Anniversary event in Mexico City. Presence will also take place in Guadalajara and Monterrey on December 2nd and 8th. Over 1,000 of Mexico's elite will attend Playboy's 50th Anniversary Party in all 3 cities. Renowned Mexican designers will showcase on the runway a collection exclusively designed for Playboy. This event commenced in the US featuring specially designed collections by Versace, Armani, Max Mara and Ann Klein . Attendance will include A+, lifestyle, fashion, Entertainment Corporate clients, as well as media. Can't wait to see the Mexican Playboy mansion! We heard it was promising!!!


GMCVB's Boutique Hotels was the presenting sponsor at Wyclef Jean's New York Birthday Bash and Launch Party for his new music label, Creole 101. More than 550 A-list guests, celebrities and media attended this exclusive soiree. Even the topless models had professionally spray painted the Boutique Hotels logo on their backs! It must be that bright orange everyone loves!!! Red carpet started at 9 pm, with Wycleff and guests, each received a GMCVB Boutique Hotels record bag, Boutique book and the recently released “Suite Dreams” music CD.


Miami Boutique Hotels teams up with Gen Art's 10th Annual “Fresh Faces” in Fashion, this September during Fashion Week NY. A selection of emerging designers presented their collections at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom in the Fashion district and celebrated their success with an after party at Strata . Fashion industry leaders among fashion press were all present to honor these designers great debut during Fashion Week NY !

On July 23rd, Gen Art's Styles Miami 04 was a big success in the fashion community. “Styles” was held at the renowned Guzman Theater followed by an after party at the District, in Miami's Design district. Once again, Miami Boutique Hotels partnered up with Gen Art to honor this special occasion. Donald J. Pliner, among other fashion guru's was present for “Styles”. Leave it to Gen Art to put together a fun and creative night out!!

Miami Beach was busy this July weekend hosting various events! The Black Film Festival held events in each part of town. One of them was held at the Sagamore Hotel , quite a turn out between directors, producers, and a few Miami locals in the industry.

BCBG Max Azria, the fashion powerhouse and one of the hottest names in the fashion industry debuted it's cruise 2004 and Spring 2005 Swim Collections at an exclusive poolside soiree, Saturday July 17th at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach . Partners included Elle Magazine, Smashbox among others. Ellen Marchman and her fabulous team at Tara Ink. did a wonderful job creating a perfect atmosphere for this event; from set design to inviting Miami's elite to even managing the rain!!!! The dazzling fashion presentation of Miami's whimsical style featured sun-kissed models flirting with handsome surfer-boys on an elevated stage to the eclectic beats of DJ Donna Marie.

Europen celebrity DJ Stephane Pompognac was the guest DJ at Hotel Astor's soiree following the BCBG Max Azria's event. Pompognac is well known for his collection of Hotel Costes cd's. Needless to talk about his music, he always attracts quite a crowd….This was a night to remember…

Nylon Magazine in partnership with Billabong held quite an event at Jonathan Morr's Townhouse Hotel. Famous Bond St. sushi platters were being served as you watched the incredible ice sculpture shaped in vodka bottles pouring down all kinds of Martini drinks! Don't even ask how we all felt by Monday

Past Events

For the 5th year in a row, ACT Productions was responsible for the amazing production of Florida's Heroes Awards presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Florida Chapter. This Black tie event took place at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami. Heroes Awards honors music professionals with local ties; this year's 2004 honorees was Juanes, nine-time Latin Grammy Award winner, Lynyrd Skynyrd, pioneering Southern rock legends, and Jaco Pastorius, the late Latin Grammy winner of Jazz bass virtuoso.

Jaguar's X-Type City Sessions parties in Miami, LA and NY. Even Jaguar has a car for “us” now! The new X-type catering the urban, underground lifestyle hipster hosted their City Sessions parties in all 3 cities featuring renown dj's promoting their X-type music cd's. Miami's Delano hosted the Miami City Sessions, The Falcon in LA and the Mercer in NY. Great parties!!! Backgammon among other fun mind games was the chosen game to win an I-pod during the parties, besides of course great tunes! I think we could all play backgammon by now with our eyes shut…we played so many games thinking we were winning a Jag!!! Wishful thinking.

Buffalo Jeans partnered up with LA's Flaunt Magazine. As all of Flaunt's magazine parties, creative, wild and fun! This one was at Lotus…I leave the rest to your imagination…..

GQ magazine's “Beach Issue” hosts a party at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami. Special guest Karolina Kurkova among others... This was one of these parties where you had no regrets attending. Lots of fun, great people, and of course great Hotel!

GenArt Miami, one of the leading arts and entertainment organizations dedicated to the fashion, film and music industry threw an event at Talula restaurant during Art Miami week. Quite a turn out !

Sundance Film Festival: Miami Boutique Hotels partnered up with Diesel during the Sundance Film Festival. Once again, Diesel surprised us with a one-of-a-kind event which took place at one of the venues on Main Street. The “Red Carpet” entrance was the brightest element there! Celebrities certainly knew which entrance to take to this event! A big success!

Diane von Furstenburg presented her Spring/Summer 2004 Collection at the Flamingo on Miami Beach. Produced by Motivus, this event attracted local fashion gurus, artists, as well as SHALIM, upcoming latin artist. There must have been well over 600 people in attendance!

…just when you thought you got to go home after one long fun evening amongst the fashion world, an after party took place at the infamous Sagamore Hotel Penthouse, in honor of Diane's son Alexandre von Furstenberg. 100 guests attended this private celebration, followed by a Diane von Furstenberg fashion show by the poolside. Among guests were Enrique Iglesias, Tara Reid and Elsa Benitez.

Flaunt magazine's Publisher Luis Barajas threw a great party at his private residence in honor of Esteban Cortazar, the new young fashion wizard during LA fashion week…Boutique Hotels were an amazing success during that whole week, and yes LA LOOOOOVES Miami!

Von Dutch finally launched in Miami
Yet another amazing night among those “Mohawk” geniuses! Anyone that was there would know what I mean by Mohawk! Over 700 people showed up at the Sagamore Hotel in Miami to celebrate their launch followed by an after party at Privee. Quite a night ?

Boutique Hotels accompanied Fashion Designer Esteban Cortazar to Fashion Week LA
Among attendees, Chris Ciccone, Ashton Kutcher, and Kelly Ozbourne. Cortazar opened Fashion Week LA after such a success in NY where Cindy Crawford opened his show during Fashion Week NY.

Art Basel Nights in Miami
Raleigh Hotel was the place to be during Art Basel! Andre Balazs and his team did a phenomenal job in hosting a series of events all week long. Starting from the opening night for Art Basel to the Visionaire magazine party to Patrick McMullan's and Andre Balazs reception. A few of us are still recovering however WELL worth it!

The Red Room at the Shore Club held a private event…the famous sentence “everyone was there” comes much into play! Great party!

60 Thompson's Sagamore Hotel held their famous brunch – 750 Art Basel guests showed up! Hosts Marty and Cricket Taplin were present. Among guests, Barbara and Herb Frank, uber-collector Ulla Dreyfus. Quite a brunch!
